Hosting an event with a Moroccan, Egyptian or Arabian Nights theme? We are a group of middle-eastern style musicians, belly dancers, fortune tellers, fire performers, snake and sword dancers, stilt walkers, henna tattoo artists, drummers to spice up your party! Arabic and Persian too. Authentic costuming, trained and skilled performers with lots of experience and references. Also have great connections for catering and tents. Damaru is a world beat music group from San Diego that incorporates African and middle-eastern rhythms into an incredibly energetic and danceable groove. With the addition of bass, sax, flute, guitar, kora and vocals, Damaru has created a sound that is original and unique. While based on traditional drumming traditions, the music transcends boundaries of ancient and modern, for a cross cultural world fusion. Damaru performs throughout the southern California area, and has a self-titled CD available. Live performances can be presented in a variety of formats, from an intimate percussion ensemble to full electric band, complete with dancers. We are available for weddings, parties and themed events.
