# Overnight Boutique Hotel Operations (Front Desk) Associate

**Grounding Circle Hospitality — Manhattan**

Grounding Circle Hospitality is a growing boutique hospitality team focused on creating calm, thoughtful guest experiences — and a supportive, steady environment for our crew. We work with small teams, clear standards, and a strong sense of presence and responsibility. To us, hospitality is both an art and a discipline.

We run two boutique properties in Manhattan. We're hiring an **Overnight Front Desk Operations Associate** — a steady, self-directed person who can hold the property through the quiet hours, care for guests arriving late, and keep the linen and laundry flow moving so the morning crew starts ready.

This is a four-day role that combines two weekday swing shifts with two weekend overnights. It suits someone who wants meaningful hours, real responsibility, and a schedule they can build a life around.

---

## The Role

Overnight is the most independent post in the building. You are the property's steady presence when the lobby is quiet — and the person who makes sure the next day starts clean.

**On your overnight shifts (Fri, Sat):**

- **Guest service:** Late check-ins, guest requests, questions, and the occasional lockout — handled with warmth and a calm voice at any hour

- **Laundry and linen operations:** Once the desk settles, you run the night's linen flow — washing, drying, folding, restocking par levels, and staging clean linen so the Room Care team opens to a full closet. This is real craft work, not filler. Clean, properly folded linen is one of the most visible signals of care a guest ever encounters

- **Overnight audit and property walk:** Closing out the day's transactions, walking the floors, checking that doors, lighting, and common areas are secure and in order

- **Morning handoff:** A clear written pass-down so the day crew opens with full awareness — occupancy, incidents, arrivals, anything left open

**On your swing shifts (Mon, Tue):**

- **Room Care coordination:** Spearheading the afternoon's housekeeping flow — tracking room readiness, communicating turnover priorities, making sure rooms are guest-ready on time

- **Guest service:** Check-ins, check-outs, requests, and the steady presence that anchors the afternoon

- **Light troubleshooting:** Quick fixes, vendor follow-ups, supply checks, walkthroughs. You solve what you can and escalate what you can't

- **Shift handoffs:** Keeping the next shift informed so the property moves smoothly across the day

---

## The Structure

**Weeks 1–4: Housekeeping Foundation + Front Desk Training**

Every front desk crew member learns housekeeping first. You'll spend your first two to four weeks training alongside our Room Care team, learning how a room is prepared, inspected, and turned over — until you pass our housekeeping standards. This is non-negotiable. It's how you learn what quality actually looks like, and it's how you'll coordinate the Room Care team effectively once you're at the desk.

During this period, **all four of your shifts run on swing (3–11 PM), paired with an experienced crew member.** You learn the property, the systems, and the crew in daylight, with support beside you.

**Week 4 onward: Overnight Anchor**

Once a lead signs off on your readiness, you move to the full pattern — two weekday swings, two weekend overnights. You become the person who holds the building through the night.

---

## Schedule

| Day | Shift |

|---|---|

| Monday | 3 PM – 11 PM |

| Tuesday | 3 PM – 11 PM |

| Friday | 11 PM – 7 AM |

| Saturday | 11 PM – 7 AM |

**32 hours across four shifts.** Off Wednesday and Thursday. Sunday is recovery after two overnights — we'd rather be honest about that than call it a free day.

A fifth shift may become available after you've settled into the role, if you want the additional hours.

**Please note:** Night work is not for everyone, and we'd rather you know that going in. If you've worked overnight before, or you know your own sleep patterns well enough to protect them, tell us about it in your note.

---

## Compensation

**$18–$22 per hour**, W-2.

We'd rather show you the whole ladder than a single number, because we want you to see where this goes:

| | Rate |

|---|---|

| **Training** — Housekeeping Foundation | $18 |

| **Cleared for solo overnight** | $20 |

| **Established** — six months independent | $22 |

**How you move up:**

- **To $20:** A lead signs off that you've met our housekeeping standards and you're ready to hold the property on your own. This usually happens between weeks four and eight — sooner if you're ready sooner. It moves when you do, not on a calendar.

- **To $22:** Six months of steady independent work — shifts held, night audit accurate, linen par levels maintained, a written pass-down every single shift, and at least one real situation handled well. We'll tell you exactly where you stand along the way. No guessing.

**Also:**

- Biweekly pay

- Paid training throughout the Housekeeping Foundation period

---

## Who You Might Be

Calm, observant, detail-aware. Reliable with scheduling. Comfortable working independently without someone looking over your shoulder — and equally comfortable asking when something is beyond your call.

Someone who notices things: a misaligned bedspread, a guest who looks lost, a door that didn't latch, a small repair that needs attention — and acts on it.

Comfortable with hands-on work. Laundry and linen are a genuine part of this role, and we're looking for someone who takes pride in doing it well rather than treating it as beneath the desk.

You might come from hospitality, creative work, customer service, security, or something entirely different. No hotel experience required — we train carefully and patiently.

## Why Work With Us

- Small crew, direct access to leadership

- A culture that values learning the basics, not rushing past them

- Clear standards and written structure, so you always know what good looks like

- A published pay ladder with gates you can actually check yourself against — not a vague promise of "we'll revisit it"

- Real growth — crew members who show consistency and care have paths forward into House Lead, Coordinator, or specialized operations roles
